ServicesTwo, and only two

Two problems. Not two packages.

SEO gets you into a list of results someone clicks. GEO gets you into an answer an assistant writes. Which one you need first has very little to do with which sounds more current, and everything to do with where you already stand.

Work out which →

Two outcomes standing on one body of work. Most of what gets built is the same either way.

01 — start here

Find the sentence that sounds like your business

Four situations, four different first moves. One of them points at a free audit rather than at us, which should tell you how seriously to take the other three.

Google barely knows you exist

Little or no organic traffic, pages missing from the index, or a site nobody has ever audited.

GEO work sits on top of a site that engines can already read. Building it on one that cannot be crawled cleanly is spending on the second floor before the foundation is poured.

You rank fine, but assistants name someone else

Respectable positions in search — and yet ChatGPT or Perplexity answers a question about your category without you in it.

The technical groundwork is already paying off, so the gap is elsewhere: entity clarity, and content shaped so an assistant can lift one passage without needing the rest of the page.

Start with GEO →

The site is brand new

Just launched, or about to. Nothing ranks yet for the boring reason that nothing has had time to.

Structure, schema and question-shaped content cost almost nothing extra while pages are still being written. Retrofitting all three across a live site later is the expensive version of the same job.

SEO, with GEO built in →

You honestly do not know

Which is the normal answer. Almost nobody arrives knowing which half of this they need.

It is free, it looks at both, and it ends with a written answer to this exact question — whether or not you go on to work with us.

02 — the overlap

Most of the work is the same work

SEO and GEO get discussed as rivals, which is mostly a marketing habit. In practice they diverge late: the majority of an engagement is groundwork that serves both, and only the last stretch is specific to one.

Built once, serves both

  • A site crawlers can read completely
  • Accurate, non-contradictory structured data
  • One consistent description of who you are
  • Information that is actually correct
  • Internal links that explain how pages relate
  • Pages that load before someone gives up

Where they split

SEO
Depth and coverage — pages comprehensive enough to earn a position, and the intent research that decides which pages are worth writing at all.
GEO
Extractability — passages that survive being lifted out of the page, and measurement of which engines are actually citing you.

SEO first is a default, not a rule. It is the right call often enough to be the starting assumption, and wrong often enough that we check before recommending it.

03 — the two services

In detail

Scope, process and what an engagement actually looks like — one page each, because that is where the specifics belong.

04 — questions

Before you choose

Should I start with SEO or GEO?
For most businesses, SEO first. Generative Engine Optimization depends on the same technical foundations SEO builds — a crawlable site, clear structure and accurate structured data — so GEO work on a site with none of that has very little to hold on to. The exception is a business that already ranks well and is simply absent from AI answers, where the foundations exist and GEO is the missing piece.
Can I hire Elivate SEO for only one of the two?
Yes. SEO and GEO are sold separately and a single-service engagement is common. They are offered together because the underlying work overlaps heavily, not because either requires the other to be bought.
How long before SEO or GEO work shows results?
Technical SEO fixes can register within weeks, while content and authority work is usually a three to six month horizon. GEO is less predictable: AI assistants update their sources on their own schedule, and no agency can observe how they choose them. Elivate SEO measures citations from the first day of an engagement so movement is visible as it happens rather than asserted afterwards.
What does the free audit include?
A crawl of the site covering indexation, site architecture, Core Web Vitals and structured data, plus a check of how AI assistants currently answer questions in the relevant category and whether the brand is named. It ends with a prioritised list of what to fix and a recommendation on whether SEO or GEO is the better starting point. There is no obligation to continue.
